How to Talk About the Holocaust in Times of Disinformation and Rising Tensions?
Training on Holocaust Denial & Distortion
events Programme
A dedicated training was held in Warsaw on April 29, with 25 educators from across Poland — representing memorial sites, schools, museums, educational institutions, and the city of Krakow — participating. The event created a space for sharing good practices and reflecting on how to teach about the Holocaust with accuracy, empathy, and without succumbing to the pressures of current events.
The training program included:
- Disturbing trends in Holocaust denial and distortion, both in public discourse and in the digital sphere – presented by Piotr Kwapisiewicz
- Techniques for dealing with manipulation and difficult questions – led by Marek Piotr Wójcicki
- Approaches to responding with empathy and context awareness, while understanding psychological defense mechanisms – presented by Professor Andrzej Leder
- Strategies for creating safe, professional, and meaningful spaces for engaging with history – moderated by Anna Makówka-Kwapisiewicz
Participants jointly faced the key question:
How can we remain faithful to historical facts while remaining sensitive to the social context and emotions of our audiences?
The training was organized by the Czulent Jewish Association in cooperation with the Jewish Historical Institute.
