Training about Holocaust Denial & Distortion

events Programme

On June 12-13, 2025, a training session on Holocaust denial and distortion took place in Krakow, aimed at those working in the fields of historical education, anti-discrimination, and human rights protection. Participants included representatives of the Krakow City Hall responsible for equality policy and civic participation, educators, activists from social organizations, and local activists.

The first day of the workshop was led by Natalia de Barbaro, a social psychologist, lecturer at the Jagiellonian University, and social skills trainer. She focused on developing assertive communication and recognizing emotions in situations of social tension. Participants worked through individual and group exercises, developing skills in expressing their own boundaries and emotions while respecting others.

The second day began with a presentation by Piotr Kwapisiewicz of the Czulent Jewish Association on current trends in the politicization of human rights and disinformation, with particular emphasis on anti-Semitism in the context of election campaigns. This was followed by two workshops led by Eliza Gaust, a DEI trainer, cultural researcher, and dialogue facilitator. Participants learned the principles of dialogue as a tool for building social trust and practiced practical techniques such as active listening, asking probing questions, and creating safe spaces for conversations across divides.
